PM urges Afghanistan to take action against terror groups: ‘Act of war’: Pakistan draws red line on water, warns India against diversion

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia at the UN General Assembly in New York. Sharif stated that any further attacks on the holy city of Mecca would be a "red line" for Islamabad. Despite Pakistan maintaining ties with Iran, which supports the Houthi fighters, the country remains strategically close to Saudi Arabia and entered into a defense agreement with the kingdom and Turkey in the previous month.

Sharif strongly condemned the recent attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, particularly the attempted drone strike on Mecca al-Mukarramah, which has outraged Muslims worldwide. He emphasized that any threat to the safety and sanctity of the holy city is a red line that must never be crossed, and no Muslim should ever contemplate such a heinous act.

Saudi Arabia accused the Houthis of targeting Mecca with a drone for the first time since 2017, an accusation the Houthi group denied. Riyadh intercepted Houthi ballistic missiles on Thursday after issuing warnings for several regions, including Mecca, amid a series of escalating attacks since July, which reignited hostilities in Yemen and involved the broader Middle Eastern conflict.
