PM Shehbaz says leadership is working to strengthen economy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed a US-based Pakistani business delegation, highlighting that Pakistan's economy has stabilized and is now on an upward trajectory. He invited the delegation to explore investment opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, mining, information technology, and artificial intelligence.

Pakistan has undertaken significant structural reforms, such as digitization and e-governance, to facilitate economic growth. The prime minister acknowledged the adverse impact of the Gulf crisis but expressed optimism about achieving long-term regional peace, which he deemed crucial for business and investment discussions. Key areas of potential cooperation were identified, such as agriculture, mining, IT, and energy security.

He emphasized Pakistan's vast agricultural potential and the need for modern machinery and technology to boost efficiency, production, and cost reduction. The government is actively seeking to empower young people through vocational and skills training, aiming to utilize the workforce in productive employment and increase production.

Pakistan's mineral resources and security for energy reserves were also highlighted as attractive investment opportunities. Privatization efforts were discussed, with the government focusing on facilitating the private sector rather than becoming a private entity. PM Shehbaz and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met to discuss regional and international developments, including the Middle East situation, the Afghan crisis, and concerns over terrorism.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and multilateralism in resolving tensions and promoting peace and stability.
