Phillies’ Luis Arraez leaves game with sprained left ankle as he chases a 4th batting title

Philadelphia Phillies' star second baseman Luis Arraez exited Thursday's contest against Milwaukee with an injured left ankle. The injury occurred as Arraez attempted to evade a tag at first base. Arraez, who is a three-time batting champion and led the National League with a .311 batting average, suffered the sprain after diving to avoid the tag.

He was attended to by trainers and eventually left the field with assistance, having left the game tied 1-1 in the sixth inning. The Phillies required a win against Milwaukee and a Padres' loss to the Dodgers to secure their fifth consecutive playoff appearance. Arraez, acquired from San Francisco during the trade deadline, was replaced at second base by Bryson Stott and at third by Edmundo Sosa.
