Peranan Malaysia sangat diperlukan dalam proses damai Bangsamoro, kata MILF

Pengerusi Panel Pelaksana Damai MILF, Mohagher Iqbal, stated that Malaysia plays a crucial role as a facilitator in the Bangsamoro peace process and the country should continue its involvement. MILF and the Philippine government have high trust in Malaysia's impartial attitude throughout the peace process. He emphasized that Malaysia has been a truthful mediator since 2001 and has handled and overcome various obstacles during the journey.

Mohagher affirmed that there's no reason why Malaysia shouldn't remain the facilitator, as the nation has proven its capability. He highlighted that Malaysia plays a significant role as a mediator in the agreement between the Philippine government and MILF, including the Framework Work Agreement on Bangsamoro and the Comprehensive Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB).

Signed in 2014, CAB paved the way for the enactment of the Bangsamoro Organic Law and the establishment of the Bangsamoro Transitional Authority. Mohagher stated that based on their record, Malaysia needs and must continue to be involved in the peace process due to the high level of trust both parties, especially MILF, have in Malaysia's impartial attitude.

He boldly claimed that without Malaysia as an impartial mediator, they wouldn't have reached this point. He stressed that Malaysia has been together in this peace process since 2001 and hopes Malaysia will continue to be the mediator of this discussion until the Organic Law is signed. Mohagher attended a Special Meeting of the MILF-Military Panel on the implementation of CAB, with the Philippine government delegation led by Presidential Adviser on Security, Reconciliation, and Unity, Senior Adviser Mel Senen Sarmiento, and Mohagher leading the MILF delegation. Process facilitator Zulkifli Zainal Abidin also attended.
