Otti rules out presidential bid, says he’ll retire after tenure

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has stated he will not seek a presidential bid or any other political office after serving out his term. The governor made this clear in an interview with Arise TV, responding to inquiries about former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi's potential presidential campaign and whether he himself would consider running for the highest office.

Otti expressed no animosity towards Obi, stating they are not at odds and would allow any candidate to campaign in Abia if they so choose. When asked directly if he would run for president in the future, Otti firmly said he planned to retire upon completing his governorship. "I had said just a few days ago that by the time I’m done with this, I’ll retire.

So I’m not going to run for any other thing, not local government chairman, not Senate, not president, no. I think I came to deliver a calling, and that is what I’m doing now. Once I finish it, I’ll retire. And I’m not getting any younger anymore," Otti added.
