Okoye arrives Super Eagles camp ahead of Madagascar clash

Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has arrived at the national team's training camp in Uyo ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar. The team confirmed Okoye's arrival on their official X account, accompanied by an image of the Udinese goalkeeper. Okoye joined the 24-man squad, making him the final player to arrive after missing the team's initial two training sessions in Uyo.

His delayed presence drew criticism after pictures emerged of him attending Milan Fashion Week, where he represented Udinese and modeled their third kit. Okoye was also spotted with American rapper Cardi B during the event in Milan. Udinese reportedly requested that Okoye remain with the Italian club for some activities prior to joining the national team.

Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle explained the situation, stating that the goalkeeper's departure allowed him to field his full goalkeeping options of Okoye, Stanley Nwabali, and Arthur Okonkwo for the upcoming match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. Nigeria will face Madagascar in their opening Group L fixture on Friday, with the game scheduled to begin at 5pm.
