North West ActionSA members claim they omitted from candidate list

ActionSA members in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality, located in North West province, are expressing frustration after realizing their names were left off the final ward councillor candidate list. The revelation came after the Electoral Commission (IEC) released the certified candidate lists on September 16, following the 28 August nomination deadline for the 2026 local government elections.

Six wards in the municipality were affected by this oversight. Pilot Mosothwane, a member from ward 18, stated that he and his colleagues had photographs showing their names on the initial list, but were later shocked to discover their absence from the final list published by the IEC. ActionSA's provincial secretary, Ofentse Kombe, attributed the error to a simple mistake rather than intentional manipulation.

He emphasized that the mistake should not be attributed to any one person or any malicious intent, and reassured the members that steps were being taken to address the issue. The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) discussed the matter, and the provincial chairperson and secretary will now reach out to the affected members and wards to resolve the situation.
