No Nation Can Realise Full Potential Without Gender Inclusion, States Bamidele

Nigerian Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has emphasized that no country can reach its full potential without ensuring full participation from its population in governance, diplomacy, economic development, and public leadership. Speaking at a book presentation in New York, Bamidele made the remarks while chairing the event, which was attended by high-profile Nigerian and international officials such as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Bamidele stressed that gender inclusion should not be seen as a favor but rather as a strategic investment in Nigeria's human capital and institutional strength. He argued that true inclusion goes beyond simply increasing the number of women in positions of power. The Senate Leader highlighted that Nigeria's democracy can only be strengthened when citizens are adequately represented in the institutions that serve them.

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through its Renewed Hope Agenda, has recognized that the country's development must tap into the abilities and contributions of all Nigerians, including women and young people, he added.

Bamidele emphasized that genuine inclusion in Nigeria's political, economic, and national life extends beyond just increasing the number of women in public institutions. He stressed that gender inclusion is essential for unlocking a nation's full potential, as a significant proportion of the population's participation in governance, diplomacy, economic development, and public leadership is vital for the country's progress.
