Nikon Z5IIC Officially Announced

Nikon has unveiled the Z5IIC, a more compact version of the Z5 II full-frame mirrorless camera. Designed for beginners and content creators, the Z5IIC maintains the 24.5-megapixel full-frame sensor, EXPEED 7 processor, autofocus system, and in-body image stabilisation found in its larger counterpart. However, it eliminates the electronic viewfinder, reducing the camera's weight to 537g from 700g and providing a more compact design with a full-sized grip.

The Z5IIC boasts a 3.2-inch fully articulating touchscreen with a 1.04-million-dot resolution, down from the Z5 II's 2.1-million-dot display. It also lacks the AF joystick and some physical controls, though it retains manual controls for more experienced users. The camera's top plate includes a tally lamp for video recording, indicating when the camera is rolling. Nikon retains its 3D tracking and subject-detection autofocus system.

For stills photography, the Z5IIC can shoot up to 15 frames per second with its mechanical shutter, and up to 30 fps for JPEG images with the electronic shutter. It supports Pre-Release Capture, enabling continuous recording for up to one second before the shutter button is fully pressed. The autofocus system detects humans, animals, birds, vehicles, and fish, making it particularly useful for aquarium photography.

The camera offers an expanded ISO range of up to ISO 64,000, making it suitable for low-light shooting. Video-wise, the Z5IIC records 4K at 30fps using the full width of its 6K sensor, 4K at 60fps with a 1.5x crop, and 1080p at up to 120fps. It also supports 10-bit H.265, Nikon's N-Log, and N-RAW formats. The camera features a dedicated product review mode, waveform display, focus peaking, zebra patterns, and 15 Scene Modes for automatic adjustments based on the subject.

Additionally, it includes an Imaging Recipes button with more recipes available through Nikon Imaging Cloud, and a film grain function.
