Narrow escape for couple after lorry plunges into ravine at Hulu Terengganu landslide

Kuala Lumpur, September 25 — A husband and wife narrowly avoided injury when their lorry tumbled into a ravine caused by a landslide along Jalan Aring-Kenyir near Sungai Deka Elephant Conservation Centre in Hulu Terengganu yesterday. Hulu Terengganu district police chief, Superintendent Sharudin Abdul Wahab, informed that the 57-year-old husband and 55-year-old wife were en route from Ajil to Kuala Krai, Kelantan, to retrieve fruit supplies when the accident occurred around 3:40 pm, as reported by Kosmo!

Online. Upon reaching the site, the couple noticed the landslide and promptly halted the vehicle to investigate the area. The lorry, which is suspected to have lost control due to brake failure, then careened into the collapsed portion of the road. Both the front and rear sections of the vehicle were severely damaged in the incident.

Sharudin stated that the area had been officially designated as off-limits for vehicles following the previous landslide. Police are in the process of recording the statements of the driver to aid the ongoing investigation under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The couple had been traveling to Kuala Krai to gather fruit supplies from their residence in Ajil at the time of the incident.
