Miss Universe Jamaica sues organization after ‘traumatic brain injury’ from pageant fall

Former Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry has initiated legal action against the Miss Universe Organization and its parent companies, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA. The lawsuit, filed on September 21, 2026, in Delaware Superior Court, alleges negligence, premises liability, negligent hiring, retention, and supervision, as well as emotional distress.

The incident occurred during the November 19, 2025 preliminary evening gown competition in Bangkok when Henry fell through an opening in the stage while following rehearsed choreography. She fell unconscious and suffered severe head, back, and facial injuries, including a brain bleed. The lawsuit asserts that the venue's concrete base posed a significant danger and that the organizers had a responsibility to ensure contestant safety.

Henry's lawyer, Joseph Ciacco, emphasized the lawsuit's intent to hold the parties responsible and advocate for improved safety standards. The Miss Universe Organization, however, claims it has not received the lawsuit and declined to comment. Despite the physical and emotional trauma, Henry remains grateful for her Miss Universe opportunity and continues her recovery while pursuing the legal case.
