Ministry of Education and Training and Suntory Pepsico Vietnam sign environmental education cooperation agreement

On February 29, 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training in Vietnam and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam signed a new agreement aimed at promoting environmental education and healthy lifestyles among students across the country. The partnership, which builds upon the success of the "Mizuiku - I Love Clean Water" initiative introduced by Suntory Group in Japan in 2004 and launched in Vietnam in 2015, will focus on strengthening communication, promoting healthy habits, and supporting the development of students nationwide.

The 2026-2029 phase of the program will expand its reach, enhance its practical relevance, and deepen its impact on learners. It aims to educate approximately 1.8 million primary school pupils on water conservation, water protection, access to clean water, school sanitation, and environmental preservation. Educational content on these topics will be integrated into academic subjects and extracurricular activities, tailored to the needs and circumstances of primary school students.

The program will also strengthen the capacity of education administrators and teachers to promote water-saving and water-protection practices within schools. Additionally, the partnership will support the installation of approximately 50 water filtration systems and sanitation improvement projects in disadvantaged areas to improve students' access to clean water and better sanitation conditions.

Beyond water conservation, the new phase will incorporate nature-based experiential learning, physical education, sports, and healthy lifestyle development. These activities aim to provide learners with opportunities to apply their knowledge in practical settings, fostering positive health habits, environmental awareness, and a greater sense of responsibility towards their communities. The program will also support sports and physical activity initiatives that encourage pupils and students to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Hoang Duc Minh, director general of the Department of Student Affairs under the Ministry of Education and Training, praised Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam's continued support for public-private partnerships that benefit students, teachers, and schools. The organization anticipates that the new phase will continue to contribute to the education sector's priorities in school health, physical education, environmental education, and holistic learner development while innovating its content and implementation approaches to better address the evolving needs of students.
