Meta's Muse feels real in a way the metaverse never did

Business Insider reporter Pranav Dixit shared his experience at Meta Connect, where he was impressed by Meta's upcoming VR glasses. The glasses, set to launch in spring 2027, weigh just 100 grams and offer a lightweight, easy-to-use experience. After trying them, Dixit compared them favorably to Apple's Vision Pro, suggesting that Meta's lightweight VR glasses might be getting close to being practical.

Dixit's most impressive product at the event was Meta's Muse AI, which he described as feeling more like having an assistant than using a chatbot. He envisioned a future where users could use Muse to perform tasks while doing other activities, such as walking down the street or cooking dinner. Muse's ability to handle tasks quietly and efficiently without requiring input from the user sets it apart from the metaverse, which was seen as requiring users to change their behavior and adapt to a virtual world.

Dixit highlighted that the real magic of Muse lies in its potential to become a top-of-the-funnel platform, similar to iOS and Google Search, with a large user base and numerous developers. However, he cautioned that this is still too early to say, as Muse is only just starting its journey. To become a truly transformative platform, Muse will need to solve everyday problems for users and integrate seamlessly into their lives, much like iOS or Google Search.
