Lagos Assembly warns against fraudsters selling jobs, contracts

The Lagos State House of Assembly has issued a cautionary statement against fraudsters attempting to profit from job seekers, contractors, and vendors by demanding money in exchange for employment, appointments, contracts, and other opportunities ostensibly connected to the legislative body. In a public disclaimer posted on their official X account, the assembly emphasized that they do not seek or accept any form of payment for employment, appointments, contract awards, procurement opportunities, or any other official benefits.

The assembly's statement, signed by the Clerk of the House, clarified that all recruitment, procurement, tendering, and related processes are conducted through established statutory procedures and are communicated exclusively through the assembly's official channels. The assembly strongly advised the public to be wary of people who request payments while claiming to represent the legislature, stating that anyone who makes payments to such individuals does so at their own risk and the assembly would not be held accountable for any resulting loss or damage.

Furthermore, the house warned that anyone found soliciting or collecting money in connection with jobs, contracts, or other opportunities involving the assembly would be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities and could face investigation and potential prosecution. The assembly urged the public to rely solely on its authorized communication channels for information regarding recruitment, procurement, tendering, and other official activities.
