KP Imposes Monthly Sanitation Fee

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced plans to impose monthly sanitation fees as part of a cleanliness initiative. An official circular has notified the new fee structure. Residential properties will be charged based on plot size, with fees ranging from Rs100 to Rs200 per month. Commercial entities, including shops, hotels, petrol pumps, factories and major business centers, will pay Rs250 per month.

The government has made an exception, however, for mosques, seminaries, government schools and other special institutions. Fee collection will commence in October 2026. The provincial government has called on citizens to cooperate by maintaining cleanliness and disposing of garbage in designated areas only. The objective is to establish a more efficient sanitation and waste management system in urban areas.
