I Don’t Belong To Any Political Party – Efia Odo

Celebrities are often unafraid to voice their opinions on social matters in Ghana. Efia Odo, a socialite and actress, has been one of the few who do so consistently. Recently, she declared that she does not belong to any political party and instead supports the concept of truth. This declaration was made in response to an activist named Kalyjah, who had tagged Efia Odo to discuss galamsey.

Kalyjah had also mentioned that the two of them would support one another regardless of their respective party affiliations. However, Efia Odo firmly maintained that she was dedicated to the truth, not any specific political party. She had previously spoken out against galamsey, an illegal mining practice, during the #EndGalamseyNow and #StopGalamseyNow protests in 2024.

Dressed in all-black, she mourned the environmental destruction and called for government intervention to safeguard water bodies, forests, and farmlands. Efia Odo has been vocal about galamsey's connection to public health issues, warning of the potential for future generations to suffer due to birth defects and contaminated water.

Although her activism has not come without consequences, Efia Odo has faced death threats, including threats to throw acid on her face, for speaking out against the current government during the #FixTheCountry protests.
