Hunnyboy reveals how social media landed him Shatta Wale feature

Ghanaian artist Hunnyboy, whose real name is Edward Tagoe, has recounted the tale of how social media propelled him to collaborate with music icon Shatta Wale. In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show, the Afro-fusion singer disclosed that it wasn't industry connections that brought him the feature, but rather consistent efforts on social media.

Hunnyboy explained that Shatta Wale came across his music after being tagged in one of his tracks on social media, during a period when he was primarily promoting his work on Instagram and Twitter. One evening, Hunnyboy posted a video and jokingly captioned it with "imagine Shatta Wale's voice on this." The next day, his friend informed him that numerous comments were tagging Shatta Wale, leading him to push the collaboration forward by continually posting videos with the song and tagging Shatta Wale.

On a particular morning, Hunnyboy noticed a comment under an old video of his, where Shatta Wale expressed admiration and asked to contact Sammy Flex to work together. Initially skeptical of the comment, Hunnyboy later realized it was from Shatta Wale's genuine account. The two later met and collaborated on the hit single "Winning," which was released in February 2025 and became an instant street anthem, celebrating resilience and victory.

This collaboration opened up significant opportunities for Hunnyboy, including performing at Shatta Wale's record-breaking ShattaFest, which drew over 600,000 fans. Now, the artist is preparing for his debut album, with "Peace of Mind" serving as one of the lead singles.
