He came to Delhi to start a new life. His life ended over Rs 1,000

A 30-year-old man found murdered in Delhi last month had ended his life because he couldn't pay a taxi fare of Rs 1,000, according to initial findings. The victim, whose body was discovered on a roadside at Naraina, bore a distinctive heart-shaped tattoo with the names "ANAND" and "RENU" on his left forearm. Police identified him as Anand and speculated that Renu might be his wife or lover, possibly children.

The man had been beaten with a brick and a broken flower pot, and his body lay in a morgue for two weeks before his identity was discovered. Police traced his killer, Rajinder Kumar, a 59-year-old taxi driver from Naraina village, who was arrested on August 17. Kumar confessed to the murder, stating he had agreed to take two men for a Rs 1,000 fare from Bhiwadi, Rajasthan to Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi.

The victim refused to pay the fare and argued with Kumar, leading to an altercation where the victim was beaten and left on the street. Kumar, under the influence of alcohol, drove the vehicle to his home where he, his wife, and son dumped the body. All three were arrested, and the victim's belongings were recovered from a drain near Naraina.
