Guardians heading back to the postseason, but the job isn’t done just yet

The Cleveland Guardians are headed back to the postseason for their third consecutive appearance, despite Jo Adell's aversion to sparkling wine. The team clinched their spot with a 1-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Adell, acquired from the Los Angeles Angels before the trade deadline, will be playing in the postseason for the first time in his seven-year MLB career.

The Guardians were previously 57-56 before acquiring Adell, and they were trailing the Chicago White Sox by three games in the AL Central. Chicago also secured a postseason berth after beating the Kansas City Royals 9-1 earlier that day. Joe Garagiola, Jr., praised Adell's contribution to the team's success, noting that he has been a great player and a joy to watch celebrating in the postseason.

The Guardians improved to 14-8 in September, leading Cleveland by one game over Chicago in the AL Central race. The winner of the Central will secure the No. 2 seed in the American League bracket and will avoid the Wild Card Series.
