Gov Adeleke gives reason for UNIOSUN VC tenure extension

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke explained the rationale behind the two-year extension of the tenure for UNIOSUN's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Clement Adebooye. The extension was announced during the university's 16th convocation ceremony held at Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State. The extension is set to commence from January 4, 2027, following strategic consultations and compliance with the state law.

Governor Adeleke, supported by his Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, highlighted Adebooye's achievements over the past four years, including the completion of 40 major building projects and several other initiatives aimed at improving teaching, learning, and administrative activities. He pointed out that Adebooye had personally commissioned legacy projects every year during his tenure.

Additionally, Adeleke emphasized the university's compliance with the 2025 Federal Government staff union agreement, making it the second state-owned university to fully implement the agreement. He noted that the extension would contribute to maintaining continuity in performance and academic excellence.

The governor also mentioned that the university had attracted five major federal government projects in September, with the completion of these projects anticipated by December 2027. Furthermore, Adebooye's administration addressed accreditation requirements for the medical school, leading to the induction of 90 pioneer MBBS students by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and the award of UNIOSUN degrees.

Governor Adeleke called upon the university's management and staff to continue working with the governing board to sustain the institution's development and reiterated his commitment to supporting improved governance and service delivery.
