Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold Review: A Tensor-y Experience

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold launched as the search giant's fourth book-style foldable, and is the second of its kind to land in the US market. Like other models in this year's Pixel lineup, this one focuses on incremental upgrades rather than radical changes. While every generational flagship brings a few tweaks, the question remains whether these enhancements are significant enough to make the Pixel 11 Pro Fold a worthwhile investment.

Google's foldables have always had a distinct appearance, but the Pixel 11 Pro Fold stands out from the crowd with its squarish camera island and a cover display that doesn't quite stretch from one edge to another. This unique design sets it apart from other products in the market, although whether this uniqueness translates to a better user experience is debatable.

Despite its unconventional look, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is slightly bulkier than its competitors, which can be a drawback considering the product category. However, it is slimmer than its predecessor, although the difference is minimal. When unfolded, the device measures 5mm in thickness, while in its folded state, it measures 10.1mm.

One design quirk that sets the Pixel 11 Pro Fold apart from others is its asymmetrical appearance. One half of the phone is marginally thicker than the other, though this feature doesn't seem to serve any practical purpose. For example, it doesn't help to balance out the camera module when the phone is open on a flat surface, a common issue among other foldables as well. However, this design choice is largely inoffensive and doesn't hinder the overall user experience.

In terms of usability, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is relatively easier to handle compared to other foldables due to its springy hinge that securely snaps the two halves into place when opening and closing. This feature can make handling the foldable more comfortable once you get accustomed to its bulk.
