This commitment was reaffirmed during the inauguration of a 581kWp interconnected solar mini-grid project in Oke-Oyi community, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The project, part of the Rural Electrification Fund – Interconnected Mini-Grid Acceleration Scheme (REF-IMAS) run by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), was developed by Nayo Tropical Technologies Limited in collaboration with the German Cooperation and the European Union (EU) via the GIZ. The mini-grid boasts an installed capacity of 581kWp, comprising 1,336 solar panels, 84 batteries, and over 10 kilometers of distribution cables and transformers.
Tegbe emphasized that the purpose of electrification is to improve lives and create opportunities, highlighting the direct connection between energy access and economic development. He provided examples such as welders expanding their businesses, grain millers operating more efficiently, and new enterprises emerging due to reliable electricity.
Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praised the Federal Government's intervention, noting the importance of reliable electricity to economic activities and community development. He highlighted how the project will provide greater access to reliable electricity for the community's customers while supporting businesses and productive activities.
The Community Leader of Oke-Oyi, Alhaji Oseni Elemoso, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and REA for their contributions to the project.
