Feds grant New Brunswick $461 million for infrastructure projects

The federal government has announced a $461 million investment in New Brunswick's infrastructure projects, as part of a new agreement. This funding, allocated through Ottawa's $51-billion Build Communities Strong Fund, will be directed towards various housing, education, and health initiatives. New Brunswick has committed to not increasing housing-related fees or taxes in return for the funding.

Of the total amount, $155 million is designated for health infrastructure, with specific allocations for the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital in Moncton. This hospital will receive $25.7 million for endoscopy modernization and expansion, along with $1 million for future planning. Federal Internal Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc expressed that these investments will help unlock new housing, enhance post-secondary education, and support modern health infrastructure in New Brunswick.
