Ex-Tabung Haji COO Adi Azuan hit with further charge over home renovations

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Former Tabung Haji COO Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani appeared in the Sessions Court on charges pertaining to accepting payment for house renovations. The 56-year-old pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Judge Suzana Hussin. Adi Azuan, who served as a public servant when he was the TH COO, was charged with receiving something of value, specifically renovation costs worth RM8,882.77 for a property located at Jalan Tanjung SD 13/4, Bandar Sri Damansara.

He allegedly accepted the payment from Thamsulazri Ismail, the director of AG Reka Sdn Bhd, who had dealings with matters handled by Adi Azuan.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Deputy Public Prosecutor, Irna Julieza Maaras, informed the court that Adi Azuan had been previously charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court for a similar offence involving renovation costs of RM50,000. The prosecution requested that the same bail amount and conditions imposed in that case be applied to this incident as well.

The court agreed to the MACC's request and allowed the prosecution to transfer the case to the Shah Alam Sessions Court to be heard together with the earlier charges.
