Egypt condemns missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, voices full support

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are to meet to offer support to their country amid crackdowns on Iranian flights, according to reports. The decision comes in response to escalating tensions following Iran's attack on Saudi-backed forces in Yemen, which has disrupted oil exports from the Middle East's primary energy producer. Iraq has also tightened restrictions on Iranian flights, aligning with US pressure.

Iran has threatened retaliation, accusing neighboring nations of "aligning with America" in its efforts to block flights. This move could further isolate Iran and exacerbate its economic crisis, already strained by a US blockade of its seaports. Despite ongoing ceasefire talks, the conflict has claimed thousands of lives and disrupted global trade and energy supplies, contributing to rising inflation.

The Saudi military chief urged troops to be prepared to defend the kingdom against the Houthis, who have launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi targets. Iran has urged the US to lift its sanctions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil shipping route, as part of a proposed truce.
