Colts have good news on CB Charvarius Ward's injury status

Indianapolis - The Indianapolis Colts remain optimistic that seasoned cornerback Charvarius Ward will be fit to play in their upcoming matchup against the Texans. Ward exited last week's game against Kansas City after 36 snaps due to a groin injury and missed Wednesday's practice. However, he managed to return to action on Thursday and again on Friday, which has raised hopes that he could join the lineup for the Texans game.

Steichen reported that Ward had a productive practice today and that he is currently in a good condition. The Indianapolis defense is in dire need of experienced players, as they have conceded 1,029 yards through the first two weeks of the season and have faced difficulties with their defensive coverage. If Ward is unable to participate, the Colts' secondary would have to undergo a shift.

Justin Walley, the rookie slot cornerback, took over from Ward last week, and Cam Taylor-Britt replaced Walley in the slot position. In case Sauce Gardner, another veteran, is not available due to a rib injury, Taylor-Britt would move to the outside, freeing up the slot for rookie Kapena Gushiken. The Colts are optimistic about the secondary's management this week if Ward is available.

However, it is worth noting that veteran wide receiver and special teams contributor Ashton Dulin is ruled out of the game against the Texans due to an ankle injury.
