Chris Hansen, Shockingly Enough, Didn’t Love Primetime

Chris Hansen, the former host of the show To Catch a Predator, has expressed his confusion and disappointment with the newly released movie Primetime, which is based on his own experiences. The film, directed by Michael Cuesta, presents a "inspired by true events" spin on the show's rise in popularity back in 2006. However, Hansen's portrayal in the movie is far from favorable, leading him to express his bewilderment following his screening of the film.

During a post-screening Instagram post, Hansen described the movie as "so bizarre and so in-and-out of reality." He admitted that while he is not entirely objective, as the character is, in fact, himself, he found the movie to be detached from the experiences he had while conducting investigations. Hansen also shared a screenshot from a negative review of the film, which criticized it as "a piece of actual garbage" and urged viewers to avoid spending their money on it. Hansen had initially declined to screen the movie in advance, citing his refusal to sign a legal agreement required by the film's distributor, A24. The agreement was a standard non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Despite not having seen the film beforehand, Hansen did invest in pre-show ads that advertise his own streaming network, which airs the movie.
