Cast of 90s local drama 'Growing Up' reunite over a meal: ‘The ease & camaraderie were still there’

Actress Amy Cheng shared photos on Instagram of a reunion of the cast members from the popular 1990s television drama "Growing Up" on September 21. The cast members in attendance included Irin Gan, Lim Kay Tong, Wee Soon Hui, Ivan Tay, and Ng Say Yong, one of the show's executive producers. Cheng expressed that the reunion allowed them to catch up, laugh, and reminisce about their shared work experiences. She noted that the camaraderie and ease from their MediaCorp days were still present.

The drama series "Growing Up" aired from 1996 to 2001 and followed the Tay family as they navigated life in Singapore during the 1960s to 1980s. It featured a large cast, including Andrew Seow as Gary Tay, his wife Amy Cheng as his wife, and others. However, the reunion photos did not include the three remaining Tay children: Seow, Steven Lim, and Jamie Yeo, who played David and Tammy, respectively.

Despite their absence, the reunion garnered positive feedback from fans, with some expressing nostalgia for the show's impact on their childhood and wishing for a reboot with new generations of Tay family members.
