Britain warns Iran it will not tolerate hostile activity on UK soil

British Foreign Minister Ed Miliband met with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi during the UN General Assembly in New York. In this meeting, the British diplomat warned Iran that his country would not "tolerate intimidation, threats or hostile activity on UK soil" from groups connected to Iran. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing war in the Middle East, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and Britain's commitment to combating threats from Iranian-linked groups within the UK, including attacks on the Jewish community.

Following this incident in July, Britain took the step of banning support for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a related group, using new legal measures to prevent the use of state-sponsored proxies. Iran has consistently denied involvement in such activities. Araqchi, in a statement via his Telegram account, called for a correction to what he perceived as "destructive and irresponsible approaches" of certain European governments towards Iran and regional developments.

He also criticized the notion of interfering in other countries' internal affairs and the misuse of human rights concepts. The National Cyber Security Centre reported that Iranian state-linked cyber actors have been using spyware called "CHOSEN BRICK" to steal sensitive information via spear-phishing campaigns on popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.
