Bhopal Police To Deploy 56 Specialised Cyber Cops At Stations For Faster Fraud Probes

Bhopal's police force will soon deploy 56 specialized cyber investigators to city police stations, aiming to expedite investigations into cybercrimes and provide quicker assistance to victims. The decision is based on the volume of cybercrime complaints registered through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) at individual stations.

Police officials have categorized stations into three groups - A, B and C - depending on the number of cyber fraud and online cheating cases reported. Categories A stations, which have received more than 500 complaints, will receive six specialized cyber personnel at their cyber help desks. These stations include Ashoka Garden, Kamla Nagar, Shahpura, and others.

The specialized personnel will not only handle routine paperwork but also assist investigating officers with technical aspects of cybercrime cases, such as tracing digital transactions, analyzing online activities, and identifying suspects. They will also aid in efforts to freeze or recover funds lost in cyber fraud cases. The deployment is a response to the rising number of cybercrime complaints, with Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar emphasizing that it will improve the quality and speed of cybercrime investigations and help victims receive assistance more swiftly.
