Bekas pengurus Petronas nyata hasrat sertai Petros dalam e-mel kerja

Former Petronas executive Khairul Akmal Jasni is accused of attempting to expose confidential documents to competitor Petros via an email. Kuala Lumpur: The court heard that Khairul expressed a desire to join Petros through an email to two Petros senior officials in June 2024. Khairul, who was previously Petronas' Human Resources (Finance and Risk) manager, told Suhaidah Labu, Petronas' HR manager, that alongside his message, the email allegedly contained Petronas' "Q1 2024 Upstream Business Performance - Operational and Financial" report dated May 10, 2024.

The email was allegedly addressed to Petros CFO Azha Jalil Abdul Jalil and CEO Janin Girie. Suhaidah testified that she received the email from Petronas' liaison officers Jumsuri Basri and Zatil Ismah Azmi on January 6, 2024, to verify whether Khairul left the company. There was no record of his dismissal (in the system) and he remained an active Petronas employee, she stated during the witness testimony.

However, when cross-examined by Khairul's lawyer Louis Liaw, Suhaidah could not confirm who actually sent the email to Petros' senior officials. Liaw asked: Based on this email, did you conclude it was sent by Khairul Akmal? Suhaidah: Yes. Liaw: But you don't know who actually wrote the email and pressed the send button? Suhaidah: I don't know.

During her testimony, Suhaidah also said Khairul had verbally expressed a desire to be transferred to Sarawak, where his family resides. When questioned by Deputy Prosecutor Noor Syafina Radzuan, Suhaidah said that transfer request was not fulfilled due to lack of vacant position in Sarawak for him. Regarding Khairul's performance at Petronas, Suhaidah stated he demonstrated excellent performance and was considered a top talent in Petronas' finance circle.

She said he had deep knowledge and understanding of factors affecting oil and gas prices. Khairul is accused of attempting to expose related documents, which he allegedly obtained while working at Petronas, to Petros. The offense is alleged to have taken place at B-6-10, Marc Service Residence, Jalan Pinang, Dang Wangi, between 3:19 pm and 3:21 pm on June 8, 2024.

He is charged under Section 203A(1) read with Section 511 of the Penal Code, which provides for a minimum penalty of RM1 million, imprisonment up to one year or both. The trial continues in the presence of Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid.
