[Asian Games] Like father, like daughter

South Korean gymnast Yeo Seo-jeong achieved a remarkable feat by winning the Asian Games women's vault gold medal on Thursday, marking a significant achievement for her family's record in Korean gymnastics. This victory puts her alongside her father, Yeo Hong-chul, who is also a two-time Asian Games champion. At the age of 24, Yeo reclaimed the title she won in her debut eight years ago, demonstrating her resilience after battling injuries that threatened her pursuit of a second consecutive Olympic medal.

She secured a score of 14.483 points in the final at the Nagoya General Gymnasium, outperforming defending champion An Chang-ok of North Korea, who secured silver with a score of 13.666. The triumph marked South Korea's first gymnastics medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Yeo expressed her happiness and gratitude for winning the gold medal after years of hard work.

This victory not only secured her second Asian Games vault title, following her success at the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games in 2018 when she was 16, but also made her the first South Korean woman to win two Asian Games gold medals in artistic gymnastics.
