On September 25, South Korea achieved a historic first at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with paddlers Cho Gwang-hee and Kim Hyo-bin becoming the first multiple gold medalists in the nation's delegation. The two swimmers, who are not typically known for their gold medal success in the Asian Games, won both the men's kayak double (K2) 500-meter event and the men's kayak four (K4) 500-meter event at Miyoshi Lake Canoe Course in Miyoshi, Japan.

Cho, 32, had never imagined winning two golds in the K2 and K4 events, while Kim, 25, won his first two gold medals at the Asian Games. Their emotional victory was marked by tears and gratitude for their hard work, with Kim expressing hope that their achievement would help promote the sport of canoeing in South Korea and lead to more gold medals in future competitions.
