Aminuddin questions why Ismail Lasim signed proclamation

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has been called upon to clarify his reasons for signing a proclamation pertaining to the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar. Former Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun demanded Ismail's explanation, particularly after he claimed to have signed the proclamation under pressure. In a Facebook post, Aminuddin recounted a similar situation he faced while in office, when he was asked to sign a document on April 19 but had reservations about the legal process outlined in Article 10 of the Negri Sembilan Constitution.

He questioned why the successor Menteri Besar ended up signing the same document if there were doubts about the process. Despite police investigating Ismail's claim of signing under duress, Aminuddin believed Ismail owed the public an explanation. Aminuddin insisted Ismail must be truthful about his actions and not attribute the ongoing dispute to the previous administration.

He emphasized that the public has a right to know the circumstances surrounding Ismail's signature on the proclamation document and the true nature of his claim of being forced to sign it. Aminuddin referred to Article 10 as a constitutional process governed by specific conditions and procedures, stating that the Attorney-General's Chambers deemed the former Undang's proclamation invalid due to the non-compliance with mandatory requirements under Article 10.

While the secretariat for the four Undang parties disputes the Attorney-General's Chambers position, Aminuddin asserted that conflicting interpretations highlighted the substantive legal nature of the issue. Aminuddin stood by the Attorney-General's Chambers decision, which he deemed more authoritative.
