Abanca compra la sede del British Council para convertirla en su edificio insignia en Madrid

Abanca has acquired the main office of the British Council in Madrid, located in the Almagro district, to transform it into its flagship building. The palace, situated on Paseo del General Martínez Campos, spans over 4,000 square meters and consists of two connected properties: a historic palace and a building dedicated to educational use. The complex is notable for its unique features in central Madrid, including a landscaped courtyard.

In a statement, Abanca explained that this property will generate value and help achieve the goals outlined in its strategic plan for Madrid. The plan aims to drive growth in the capital and its metropolitan area, with a focus on corporate and heritage management segments. The acquired facilities will enable Abanca to offer a comprehensive social, educational, and cultural experience to Madrid residents through its Social Work and Foundation.

Abanca highlighted the company's growth, with a 9% increase in business volume and a 19% rise in clients in the Madrid region over the past year (August 2025-August 2026). This represents more than 10% of the company's total business. With 50 offices and a team of over 600 professionals, Abanca's expansion into Madrid's iconic spaces, such as its corporate headquarters in Recoletos 4 and the Serrano 45 venue, will provide customers with a unique and comfortable experience while minimizing environmental impact.
