A fresh chapter for the George Keyt Foundation: A renewed commitment to the Sri Lankan art ecosystem

The George Keyt Foundation (GKF) has announced strategic appointments to its leadership team, aiming to bolster its long-term vision and engagement in the global art market. The enhancements include the establishment of a new Advisory Committee and the addition of a new trustee.

To broaden its reach and deepen its engagement, the Foundation has appointed three new members to its Advisory Committee. Dr Sujatha Meegama, a Senior Lecturer in Buddhist Art History at the Courtauld, brings specialized knowledge in South Asian art history. Dr Shamil Wanigaratne, a clinical psychologist, author, and avid art historian, will contribute his unique perspective to public outreach and cultural preservation strategies.

Abbas Esufally, a veteran corporate leader and arts patron who recently transitioned from GKF Trustee to Advisory position, will continue to offer his business acumen and extensive network.

Additionally, Leesha Captain, a recognized supporter of the local art scene in Sri Lanka, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees. Her hands-on perspective will strengthen the Foundation's core team as they develop new art programs.

In a statement, Malaka Talwatte, Chairman of the Foundation, expressed excitement about the new appointments, stating that they mark an exciting chapter in the Foundation's decades-long history of promoting Sri Lankan artists. He emphasized that the combination of Leesha on the board and the diverse expertise of the new Advisory Committee will significantly amplify the Foundation's efforts in curating high-profile exhibitions and expanding local and international partnerships.
