X-Ray Breakdown Hits Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital Patients In Indore

Indore's Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH) is struggling with a breakdown of digital X-ray machines in its new outpatient department (OPD). Daily, around 200 to 250 patients undergo X-ray examinations; however, both the new OPD's digital machines have stopped functioning. The facility primarily relies on a portable X-ray machine for chest examinations, with its working hours extended until evening to accommodate the patient load.

Elderly, disabled, and seriously ill patients are particularly affected by this situation. Ramashankar Upadhyay, who suffered leg swelling from a fall, had to move around the hospital for an X-ray due to the malfunctioning machine. Uma Bai, who brought her daughter for an X-ray, had her daughter transferred from the new OPD to the old one because her daughter was in a wheelchair.

The MYH Superintendent, Dr. Ashok Yadav, explained that one machine's X-ray tube developed a fault, and replacement would take 15 to 20 days. The other machine is out of service due to a damaged part. To address the issue, the hospital plans to shift a machine from the chest ward and operate it manually until repairs are completed.
