The incident occurred at Jalan Rantau Panjang-Panglima Bayu around 3pm, when Tengku Ziarulwida Tuan Zainudin, 39, a passenger in their Perodua Alza, was killed instantly in a head-on collision with a Toyota Hilux.
The driver of the Perodua Alza, Mohd Saifulzawawi Ghani, 39, was also seriously injured. The family was en route from Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, toward Panglima Bayu when the accident took place.
Mohd Saifulzawawi and two of his children were taken to Red Zone of Tanah Merah Hospital for serious injuries, while the other two children are in the Yellow Zone. Che Ibrahim Che Min, 48, the driver of the Toyota Hilux, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The police are investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
