Wiederbelebt mit mehr PS: Renault zeigt neuen R8 Gordini in Paris

Opel, VW and Peugeot have recently added the sporty badges GSE to their electric Corsa, Polo and 208 models, but Renault has taken the concept to the next level. At the Paris Auto Show in October, the French manufacturer will unveil the revamped R8 Gordini.

Introducing the R8 Gordini from the 1960s, Renault brought forth a decade of affordable sportsmanship before the first GTI models hit the road. This purist approach features a sporty demeanor in a compact sedan, featuring the iconic snout of the original Gordini. The show car measures 4.12 meters long and follows a minimalist design approach, seating only two passengers with a severely reduced interior, dominated by sleek aluminum.

However, Renault did not skimp on power. Unlike the original, which only had 63 kW/86 PS, the new R8 Gordini houses an electric motor with a whopping 206 kW/280 PS. The French manufacturer has created a unique vehicle, as the R8 Gordini is the second revival after the R5 Turbo. While the R5 Turbo is available as a limited edition with a potent 397 kW/540 PS, the R8 remains a one-of-a-kind masterpiece handcrafted in Renault's design studio.
