White House ordered to ‘immediately return, reinstate, and restore’ access for 3 news outlets

A federal judge issued a ruling on Thursday to immediately return, reinstate, and restore access for three news outlets - CNN, MSN, and Politico - to the White House grounds. The order came after President Donald Trump banned the outlets for their coverage he deemed as "fake news" and a risk to national security. The three outlets joined hands in a lawsuit arguing that the ban violated their First Amendment rights, as it singled them out for the content of their reporting.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly agreed with the outlets' claims, stating that they had met the legal thresholds for a temporary restraining order. Kelly emphasized that the government must have clear standards to revoke press passes and called the White House's standard of objectionable reporting "so vague." The ruling vindicated freedom of the press, due process, and the rule of law, according to the outlets' attorney.
