Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Story Comes to an End With Final DLC This December

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader's final DLC, titled Processional of the Damned, is set to be released in December this year, marking the end of the game's story. Developed by Owlcat, the critically acclaimed cRPG launched in December 2023 and is hailed as one of the best Warhammer 40,000 video games ever made. The success of Rogue Trader led to the studio's other Warhammer 40,000 cRPG, Dark Heresy.

However, before Dark Hersey's release, players can look forward to Processional of the Damned, the game's third and final DLC. This expansion adds a new storyline, a companion character, a playable archetype, new enemies, gameplay features, and gear. The DLC will be seamlessly integrated into the main game, offering new quests throughout the main story.

The story revolves around Stella, a frail young woman with powerful psychic abilities. Recruited as a companion, Stella is also an unsanctioned psyker, whose powers manifest as tears of blood and cracks in her skin. In battle, Stella emits a devastating wave of psychic flares, dealing area of effect damage to her surroundings. Despite her abilities, Stella is never truly free from peril and madness, as her powers and the warp constantly threaten her well-being.

Players can choose to make Stella their weapon, friend, or ally, or immerse themselves in the madness with her. Additionally, the DLC will introduce a new melee-focused archetype, the Zealot, who specializes in bludgeoning enemies, and a new feature called Madness affecting all companions. New enemies, including the Arch Enemy and the Aeladari, will also be added to the game.

While Owlcat is currently focusing on Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, fans have speculated about the possibility of the studio taking on the challenge of creating Baldur's Gate 4. Co-founder and creative director Alexander Mishulin dismissed this suggestion, offering a humorous response to the fans.
