😱Vélez demands Boca-Racing in Copa Argentina be suspended

The club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield has petitioned the Court of Appeals in an effort to suspend the upcoming match between Racing Club and Boca Juniors, which is part of the 2026 Copa Argentina. The Xeneize club contends that Boca Juniors violated the regulation by fielding a team with six foreign players during their recent game.

Despite acknowledging the infringement, the ruling has maintained the integrity of the final outcome. Vélez is thus requesting the reversal of the previous decision, the declaration of the ineligible lineup, and the awarding of a 3-0 victory to them, securing their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament. As a temporary measure, they are also asking for the sporting implications of the case to be halted and for the match against Academia to be postponed.
