Veeramani case: Stalin says DMK regime did not protect anyone

On Thursday, former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the spread of false allegations against the DMK in relation to the handling of the child sexual assault case involving industrialist and Gem Granites founder Veeramani. Stalin stated that no order was issued during the DMK regime to protect anyone in the case.

He emphasized that anyone who conspired with Veeramani or tried to shield him, regardless of their high-ranking positions, should not be spared. "This is the stand of the DMK," Stalin asserted, adding that the outcome of the case should deter future crimes. He expressed his desire as a party leader, head of a family, and an individual of integrity.

Stalin highlighted that appropriate action had been taken in cases involving crimes against women and girls, with charge sheets filed and the accused facing punishment by the courts. He was confident that the public was aware of this truth. Stalin also denied that the DMK had ever sought to shield anyone, contrary to claims made by the current ruling party, the TVK government.

He alleged that despite affected women filing complaints against a TVK MLA and district secretaries, no action had been taken, and attempts at compromise had been made. Stalin urged the ruling party to refrain from using the tragic situation of young girls as a political tool in a by-election and spreading falsehoods. He stressed that obtaining justice would be the objective for everyone.
