Vancouver Whitecaps CEO says sale of MLS team no closer to reality

Vancouver Whitecaps CEO Axel Schuster expressed ongoing concern about the team's future due to the lack of progress in securing new ownership. The Whitecaps have been on the market since December 2024, with over 100 groups expressing interest and more than 30 provided access to the club's finances. However, no viable offers have materialized.

Schuster highlighted that while there has been no increase or decrease in concern, progress on finding new ownership remains stagnant. The team's inability to own its stadium, BC Place, owned by provincial Crown corporation PavCo, has made attracting buyers challenging. The CEO emphasized the urgency of finding a solution, stating that they are "running out of time" as the 2027 season approaches.
