The cost of the advertisement, which aired on conservative shows Fox News and Newsmax, amounted to $14,000. The U.S. government's involvement in this advertisement has raised questions about compliance with the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from working on political campaigns using government resources. Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, who could chair the House Judiciary Committee if his party gains a majority in the midterms, expressed concern over the advertisement's alignment with Trump's campaign messaging and potential ethical violations under federal ethics provisions.
