Unionized workers at Metro produce centre in Laval, Que., ratify new deal

Metro's Laval, Quebec fresh produce distribution centre is ending a months-long strike after workers approved a new collective agreement. The United Grocery Workers Union Metro-Richelieu reported that 77 percent of the 550 unionized workers who voted were in favour of the deal. Under the agreement, employees will see a 22 percent salary increase over five-and-a-half years, with a six percent raise retroactive to September 2025 and an additional four percent increase upon their return on Sunday.

Metro Inc. stated that operations will resume progressively starting Sunday. The strike had caused delays in negotiations as the company and union disagreed on several terms, impacting Metro's earnings.
