UNGA 81: Nigeria targets 29m children, 500,000 teachers with $5bn global education funds

On Thursday, 24 September 2026, Nigeria will showcase its talent and technology-enabled services to global employers at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 81 in New York. The Hire From Nigeria campaign, a public-private sector initiative, aims to advance services exports and job creation by connecting Nigeria's talent with international demand.

The event, titled "Impact Sourcing As A Driver Of Global Trade And Inclusive Job Creation," will feature senior Nigerian government officials, state governors, private-sector leaders, and technology experts. Nigeria's Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, GCON, will deliver a keynote address on the theme "Setting the global trade and impact sourcing context; Nigeria’s positioning as the next outsourcing frontier."

Hosted by the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, MFR, the side event will highlight Nigeria's growing talent base and its relevance to businesses worldwide. Confirmed speakers include governors from Lagos State, Niger State, and other key officials such as the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, and the Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Bisoye Coker Odusote.

Nigeria's strategic position as a potential outsourcing hub will be emphasized through the event, with a focus on turning international interest into sustained commercial relationships. The Hire From Nigeria campaign, led by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), and various other government ministries and organizations, aims to bridge the gap between Nigeria's talent and global demand.
