Trump’s short-lived press ban

The White House briefly banned press credentials for CNN, Politico, and MS NOW, barring their reporters from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. This action came after President Donald Trump accused the media outlets of spreading "FICTION and LIES" during his administration. The ban was initiated on Friday afternoon, with the White House threatening to add more outlets to the list.

However, a federal district court intervened, ordering the immediate restoration of press credentials for the three outlets. Despite the court's ruling, journalists were not allowed back into the White House until nearly 11 hours later, around noon on Thursday. Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, questioned the White House's assertion of "national security" as the primary reason for the ban.

Trump himself suggested that the ban was due to his growing frustration with the media's reporting over the past two years. This temporary restraining order was only valid for 14 days, and Kelly indicated that he plans to rule on a more permanent injunction soon. Trump declared his intention to appeal the decision, as it is highly likely that he would lose the case.
