Tractor Supply inaugurates $200M distribution facility in Idaho

Tractor Supply Co. is set to begin shipping products to its stores from a new 865,000-square-foot distribution center in Nampa, Idaho, in October, the company announced on Wednesday. The facility, which cost over $200 million to build and employs 500 people, will initially serve 123 stores across nine states, with capacity to support more than 200 stores at full operational capacity.

The service area includes Oregon and Washington. In a grand opening ceremony, Chief Supply Chain Officer Craig Ledbetter stated that the distribution center will facilitate quicker restocking of stores. This is the first Tractor Supply distribution center in the U.S. to feature an automated storage and retrieval system, manufactured by Knapp AG from Austria.

The automated system operates solely on lithium-ion battery power. All Nampa managers have been trained in AI fundamentals, and the site has a dedicated AI innovation team that applies practical artificial intelligence to operational needs. Construction on the facility began in December 2024 and was completed in July, with inventory receiving commencing last month. Tractor Supply currently operates 2,463 stores in 49 states and 209 Petsense stores in 23 states.
