Trabzonspor issues warning over usage of Mohamed Salah's name

Trabzonspor has issued a stern warning to businesses against utilizing Mohamed Salah's name, image, and the club's shirt in commercial campaigns without prior authorization. The Turkish club took this stance in response to discovering advertisements and promotional activities that allegedly infringed upon Salah's rights following his high-profile transfer from Liverpool.

Salah's move has sparked considerable interest both within Turkey and globally. Trabzonspor emphasized that merely seeing Salah wearing the club's shirt does not confer the right for third parties to exploit his name or image for commercial gain. A Turkish reporter, Hasan Tuncel, relayed a statement from the club highlighting instances of unauthorized use, such as promoting goods and services with Salah's image, creating the illusion of endorsement by the player or Trabzonspor, and capitalizing on the club's brand value.

The statement asserted that such practices may infringe on both Salah's personality and image rights, as well as the club's trademark, commercial reputation, and economic value. Trabzonspor pledged to meticulously document the advertisements and commercial uses they identify as violations and would pursue appropriate legal and criminal actions against those implicated.

The warning arrives as Salah has swiftly become a significant addition to the Trabzonspor roster. The Egyptian forward scored a remarkable hat-trick and assisted in a 4-0 victory against Galatasaray on Saturday, bringing his goal tally to seven in just six league matches. Currently, Salah is away from the club with the Egyptian national team during the international break, participating in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification, where they will face Angola in a Group B match of the first stage of the qualification round.

It has been noted that Mohamed Salah's transfer to Trabzonspor was not the issue at Liverpool, as per Thierry Henry's assessment.
